Prof Jorgen Gullestrup

Jorgen Gullestrup – emigrated to Australia as a skilled migrant in 1988.  A plumber by trade he worked various Queensland construction sites until taking up a role with the Queensland Workers Health Centre as a research assistant.  He became an official with the Plumbers and Gasfitters Union initially as an Enterprise Bargaining Officer before taking roles as an Organiser, Assistant Secretary and eventually Queensland State Secretary.  He is the founding CEO of MATES in Construction and worked for the organisation for 14 years before leaving to become founding CEO of the Mental Health Lived Experience Peak Queensland.  He recently returned as National CEO for MATES in Construction.  Apart from his plumbing qualifications Jorgen also holds an Associate Diploma in Labour Studies, a Diploma in Social and Community Work, a Masters degree in Suicidology.  Jorgen is currently a PhD candidate at Deakin University researching help offering amongst me in suicide prevention. anel.
